17-Yr Old Fatally Shot While Parking His Car, 2200 Block Elm Ave.

(April 14, 2003) -- A 17 year old LB resident was fatally shot, apparently while parking his vehicle near his residence in the 2200 block of Elm Ave. in the 6th Council district.

In a written release, LBPD says Jorge Orozco was found seated in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound when LBPD and LBFD responded on April 13 at about 8:55 p.m.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed the victim was parking his vehicle when two male African-Americans approached (roughly 18-22 years old) and shot him in the upper torso, then fled the area.

Mr. Orozco was taken a local hospital...where he died.

LBPD asks anyone with information about this crime to contact Homicide Detectives Markl McGuire or Chris Cardoza at (562) 570-7244.
