Fourth Central LB Shooting Within 10 Days: Wounded Man Arrives At Hospital, Says He Was Shot Saturday Nite Near MLK/16th St.

Police say he was uncooperative, can't find evidence of shooting at victim-specified location

(April 28, 2019) -- In the fourth Central LB shooting within the past ten days, a man (adult) showed up at LB Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound on Saturday night (April 27), said he was shot in the area of MLK/16th St. (6th Council district) but when officers checked the area, they were unable to find evidence of a shooting at that location.

LBPD Public Information Officer Jennifer De Prez says officers responded to the hospital at about 10:05 p.m. to speak with the victim but described him as "uncooperative"...and officers were unable to find evidence of a shooting at the victim-indicated location..

In recent days, Central LB neighborhoods have experienced

  • April 24: An argument was followed by shots fired with evidence of shooting-strikes on a residence and an unoccupied vehicle in the 1000 block of Cerritos Ave. (6th dist.)

  • April 20: A verbal dispute was followed by shots-fired at an unoccupied vehicle in the area of MLK/19th St. (6th dist.)

  • April 18: A man was shot/wounded in a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of Alamitos Ave. (1st dist. across 7th St. from LB's Museum of Latin American Art and Gumbiner Park.)

    LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
