LBPD Watch Commander Michael Richens told LBREPORT.com that officers were sent to the 400 block of Almond Ave. after a caller(s) reported hearing shots...and officers found that a building had been hit by gunfire. LBPD Public Information Officer Shaunna Dandoy later clarified that the shooting was inside a residence.

LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

It's the third shooting within a week in Central LB with others in recent weeks in the general same area or not far away.

• On April 18, a man was shot/wounded minutes shortly before midnight in a drive-bn shooting in the 800 block of Alamitos Ave. (1st district)

• On April 15 or early a.m. April 16, a man (adult) reported he was shot/wounded while riding westbound on Anaheim St. approaching Obispo Ave. (a couple of blocks west of Redondo Ave.)

• On March 26, shots were fired with casings found in the 2300 block of E. 17th (near Junipero Ave. just south of PCH, 4th dist.) but no person appeared to have been hit..

• On February 28, a man (adult) was shot/wounded din the aera of LB Blvd/20th St.

• And also Feb. 28, a boy (age 17) was shot and killed and a woman was wounded by someone firing from a car driving through an alley in the area of 11th St./Lewis Ave. (6th dist.)
