(April 6, 2019) -- The southeast corner of Atlantic Ave. at San Antonia Dr. looked like something out of American Graffiti on Friday night when George's 50's Diner held a car show as part of the April 5 First Fridays events in Bixby Knolls.

Tom Stout attended and shared the photos on this page with LBREPORT.com. Mr. Stout says The Sultans car club had a visible presence. Vehicles spanned a timeline from the late 30s to early 70s. An on scene-DJ played good old rock 'n' roll and had attendees rockin' in the parking lot. The Diner was filled. Good show.

The cars were immaculately restored although some things were beyond the car owners' control. Turn on the AM radio and the music died along with the stations that once played it. The girls in poodle skirts (later mini skirts) and guys with ducktail haircuts (later beards) are now mainly greyer and wider (and not as easily restored.)

And the beat goes on.
