(April 6, 2019, UPDATED at 6:27 p.m. following initial report on our Facebook page) -- Swift and savvy LBPD police work has renited a Long Beach dog owner with her doggie "Chewie," allegedly stolen yesterday (April 5) from a home at the northern edge of LB's Rose Park neighborhood.
Yesterday (April 5), Ana (Chewie's owner) posted an urgent message on her Facebook page: ...My step dad was walking him this morning in Long Beach (off Molino and 10th street) when he was [allegedly] assaulted by two Hispanic women driving a white fiat. My step dad was pushed to the ground and one of the women jumped out of the car and took Chewie...Please please share this post... LBPD Public Information Officer Arantxa Chavarria tells LBREPORT.com that LBPD's Robbery and Violent Crimes Detectives in conjunction with patrol officers worked through the night to locate Chewie. The officers used video from home security cameras and Detectives were able to discern a license plate and then located a residence in South Gate. They then executed a search warrant at that address and located Chewie. Photo below shows LBPD Robbery Sergeant Dave Schilling when Chewie was located and retrieved last night (April 5.)
LBPD also took two women (adults) into custody; they're booked on suspicion of second degree robbery (held on $50,000 bail.) [Scroll down for further.] |
And on Saturday (April 6), Ana and Chewie were reunited at LB Animal Care Services HQ.
