No Crime? No Crime Stat? See Video Of What LB Resident Recently Encountered On Her Doorstep. How Many Others?

If LBREPORT.com didn't tell you,
who would?
No one in LBREPORT.com's ownership, reporting or editorial decision-making has ties to development interests, advocacy groups or other special interests; or is seeking or receiving benefits of City development-related decisions; or holds a City Hall appointive position; or has contributed sums to political campaigns for Long Beach incumbents or challengers. LBREPORT.com isn't part of an out of town corporate cluster and no one its ownership, editorial or publishing decisionmaking has been part of the governing board of any City government body or other entity on whose policies we report.

(April 20, 2019, 11:48 a.m.) -- Below is a front-door video showing what a Long Beach resident (7th district) recently encountered on the doorstep of her home. The resident (she's prefers that we identify her as such, which we respect) makes her appearance at 42 seconds into the video.

To view the video, click here.

The resident tells LBREPORT.com that she reported what took place to LBPD and an officer responded fast, in less than five minutes.

LBREPORT.com plans to follow up by asking LBPD on Monday (the soonest business day) whether what's visible on that video will be treated as a crime in terms of LBPD's further resources and officially reported crime stats.

Perspective

After erasing roughly 20% of LBPD's citywide deployable police level for taxpayers -- 208 citywide deployable officers no longer budgeted beginning in 2009 -- and failing to restore more than 22 of them to date despite 2016 LB voter approval of the Measure A "blank check" LB sales tax increase -- LB Mayor Garcia and current Councilmembers cite LB officially-reported crime stats in telling the public "crime is down."

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, LB's officially-reported crime stats don't include "ghost" shootings (LBREPORT.com coverage here), don't itemize documented shootings (included among overall aggravated assaults) and don't itemize neighborhood-impacting non-violent "Part 2" crimes.

Further to follow on these aspects to this LB story coming on LBREPORT.com.
