(May 1, 2020, updated 4:45 p.m. from 6:40 a.m.) -- On April 30, LBREPORT.com reported the following events on our front page and Facebook platform:
  • Good news: No add'l deaths (death toll remains 36)

  • More good news: At least one homeless man infected with COVID19 [and thus possibly capable of spreading it] is off the street. He showed up at LB's NLB winter shelter, displayed symptoms during intake procedures and was swiftly transported to a hospital where he tested positive. City says he's currently recovering and those with whom he interacted on intake are being tested as a precaution. It's not immediately clear from city's summary release from exactly where he came, with whom he interacted previously or how he arrived at the WLB shelter.

  • Not so good news but not unexpected: 667 total positive LB cumulated cases (up from 629 yesterday), largest one day increase to date. However testing has also increased and we don't have those one day numbers Roughly 402 individuals have recovered to date

  • 201 of the positive cases are from 17 LB long term care facilities (cumulated); 12 locations now have active cases (incl. residents and staff)

At midafternoon May 1, the City's Joint Information Center corrected an earlier release to indicate (accurately) that the homeless person arrived at NLB;s winter shelter, not a WLB shelter.
