Gunfire Strikes Multi-Unit Residence In Wrigley: 2500 block Chestnut (CD 6/Saro)

(April 18, 2021, 11:20 a.m.) -- Gunfire struck an occupiked multi-unit residence in the 2500 block of Chestnut Ave. (CD 6/Councilwoman Saro) just south of Willow St. in LB's Wrigley District overnight.

It's the 23nd shooting in CD 6 (counting total persons hit + casings found + homicides) (or 24th if one counts one on the 6th/7th district border] since January 1, 2021, the highest number of any LB Council district. CD 6 has been represented since mid-December 2020 by Saro, who candidly campaigned against retoring LBPD's field anti-gang unit and in favor of defunding police to fund other spendng...

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says officers responded to a shots-fired call in the 2500 block of Chestnut Ave. at about 2 a.m. Officers observed a multi-unit residence had been struck by gunfire and found evidence including bullet casings indicating a shooting had occurred.

No persons were found hit. LBPD says no suspect information is available and the investgation is ongoing.

Shooting at an inhabited dwelling is s felony level offense (246 PC), considered extremely serious (and terrifying) crimee since bullets can travel through some building walls and injure or kill persons who thought they were safe inside their residence.
