(April 8, 2021, 5:35 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that the CA Dept.of Corrections conducted an operation in Long Beach this morning (April 8) that was "part of a statewide taskforce investigation into fraud on the state’s unemployment insurance benefits program."

CA Dept of Corrections Press Secretary Dana Simas tells LBREPORT.com the "investigation is ongoing so no further details can be provided at this time. Through the statewide taskforce, CDCR is committed to ensuring we continue to bring anyone defrauding Californians of critical unemployment benefits to justice."

An LBREPORT.com reader says he saw a large police presence at about 6 a.m. in the Rec Park/Colorado Lagoon neighborhood along E. 5th St. east of Ximeno Ave. LBPD's PIO had no details but said it was assisting the state agency,

The reader says "They closed off the block, used SWAT with assault rifles and body armor, later a K9 unit to search for whatever. Dozens of police vehicles..."

Further as we learn it.
