(April 17, 2021, 11:40 a.m.) -- A man riding his bicycle along the LA River bike path on Friday evening April 16 was stabbed by an unknown individual in the area of PCH/Golden Ave.

LBPD Public Information Officer Daisy Paul says that on April 16 at about 8:30 p.m, officers were dispatched regarding a reported stabbing. The victim stated he was on the bike path in the area of PCH/Golden Ave. when a man (adult) suspect approached him' they engaged in a brief conversation and when the victim walked away, the suspect stabbed him. The victim fled the area on foot. The motive for the stabbing is unknown and LBPD's investigation is ongoing,.

From initial available information, it's not immediately clear if the suspect was a transient.
