Hardball, Not Spitball: Mayor Foster Throws Ceremonial First Pitch @ Armada Game
(August 28, 2006) -- LB's new Mayor Bob Foster took the mound at Blair Field on Sunday August 27, throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the LB Armada's next to last game of the season.
It was no sissy pitch...
...and delivered a solid thump in the catcher's mitt, very audible along the third base line.
As photog, we stayed focused on the pitcher, not the catcher...but we're independently informed that Hizzoner's pitch reached home plate on target, a no-nonsense strike. And as we said, we heard a real catcher's mitt thump.
During the Mayoral campaign, candidate Foster noted that he'd coached Little League World Series in 1983. As he left the Blair Field mound, someone in the audience shouted, "Sign him."
Among those present, Straight Talk Executive Producer/Host and baseball fan Art Levine.
We're pleased to report that Mayor Foster exited the field briskly and didn't appear to be injured...so we shouldn't have to face a workers comp claim.
