Long Beach Lifeguards Attempt To Rescue A Swimmer...Who Allegedly Becomes Combative And Takes His Clothes Off; He's Taken To A Hospital For Evaluation

(Aug. 16, 2013) -- No, we don't have more on this...although we asked about it.

A "Nixle" alert from LBFD indicates that on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 15), Long Beach lifeguards "attempted to rescue a swimmer off of Granada Beach. The swimmer became combative, removed his clothing, and refused assistance.

[Continued LBFD text] As the patient’s actions placed him at significant risk of drowning, LBFD Lifeguard Rescue Boats and on-scene lifeguards took swift action and assisted the patient to safety. The patient was transported to a local Long Beach hospital by a Long Beach Fire unit for further evaluation. Long Beach Police Department marine and land resources also assisted as part of this collaborative effort.

All in a day's work...
