(August 20, 2019, 1:15 p.m.) -- LBPD says a business in the Bixby Knolls Shopping Center (4450 Atlantic Ave.) was robbed of merchandise (clothing items) on Monday night (Aug. 19, about 9 p.m.) by two suspects -- a man and a woman (both adults) -- and the male suspect stabbed inflicted a minor laceration (cut) to the store's loss prevention employee who tried to detain them. LBPD set up a containment perimeter and used air support but the suspects got away.

Less than a week earlier on August 13, three suspects -- two of them allegedly armed -- wearing ski masks robbed another store in the shopping center in the noon hour.

About three weeks ago on Aug 9, a man was shot/wounded while sitting in his car parked along Atlantic Ave. at 45th St. basically across street. It was one of three 8th district shootings on August 9; the other two shooting crime scenes (persons not hit) were in the 200 block of E. Del Amo Blvd. (suspect shot at a vehicle driving in the area) and the 40 block of W. 49th St. (parked vehicle hit by gunfire.)

On February 20 in the 4500 block of Atlantic Ave., a strong-arm robber grabbed a woman's backpack, she gave chase, fell and was injured as the thief got away in a vehicle driven by another individual who had two others in the vehicle with him.

The Atlantic Ave. crimes were basically a block or two south of LBPD's North Division police station in Scherer Park .

In the 4 p.m. hour, LBPD advised us that its follow-up investigation indicates the store employee's wound is more accurately described as a minor laceration rather than a stabbing. .
