(Aug. 17, 2020, 4:35 a.m.) -- A fire broke out in a Rose Park South strip mall in the 2700 block of E. 4th St. (NW quadrant at 4th St./Temple.)

LBFD PIO/Capt. Jack Crabtree says one strip mall unit was involved with fire and smoke communicated to a second unit providing animal related services [indicated in maps as Long Beach Veterinary Hospital.) Capt Crabtree says Firefighters searched, found a couple of cats and pulled them out of the facility and requested assistance from LB Animal Care Services.

Capt. Crabtree says the fire was first reported by LBPD units that were responding to some type of alarm. LBFD responded at 3:17 a.m. and had the blaze knocked down shortly after 3:30 a.m.

LBFD's response included 33 firefighters. Pulse Point indicates the response included three Battalion Chiefs, 4 emergency units, a Rescue unit, two Fire Trucks and an Arson unit.
