(Aug. 2, 2021, 3:15 a.m.) -- Social networks lit up and LBPD confirmed what residents told us: shots were fired in the 1000 block of Belmont Ave. (CD 4/Supernaw border with CD 3/Price) and officers were at the scene collecting evidence.

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Paul Esko says (preliminary info) that on Aug. 1 at roughly 10:47 p.m., officers were sent to the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue regarding a shots call. Officers found evidence that a shooting occurred but didn't locate any victims hit. The suspect(s) fled the area and LBPD's investigation is on-going.

The latest shooting follows a July 30 shooting inside Scherer Park (CD 8/Austin) in which a juvenile was struck/wounded, followed by two shootings in the overnight hours July 31 in which men (adults) were wounded (area Cherry Ave./Artesia Blvd and 3100 bock Golden Ave.)
