(Aug. 11, 2021, 6:25 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned of a mid afternoon Aug 11 shooting in Councilwoman Zendejas' 1st Council district, this time in the 900 block of Daisy Ave. Gunfire struck a multi-unit residence and a parked unoccupied vehicle.
LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says officers responded at roughly 1:55 p.m. on Aug. 11 and found evidence that the shooting had occurred. No persons appear to have been hit; there's no suspect information and the motive for the shooting is unknown. Yesterday (Aug 10), the City Council signaled no meaningful dissent from Mayor/Mgm't proposed FY 22 police budget that doesn't restore any of roughly 230 officers defunded by previous and present Councils. No Council incumbent sought to change their current FY 21 budgeted officer level that leaves LB with a significantly thinner per capita police level than LA, Santa Monica, Signal Hill.
