(Aug. 14, 2021, 4:30 a.m.) -- On August 13, the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that all of its teachers must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 15 and also undergo regular COVID-19 testing.

Long Beach Unified School District non-elected management has previously indicated, without public discussion and voted action thus far by LBUSD's policy-setting elected School Board, that it won't require teacher vaccinations but will require unvaccinated teachers to undergo weekly COVID testing.

On Aug. 17, LBUSD has scheduled a Special Meeting at which School Board members will publicly receive, discuss and could make motions during an agendized "School Opening Update" regarding Health & Safety matters (10:45 a.m.)

Prior to that School Board meeting, LBUSD staff may or may not indicate it plans to follow LAUSD's practice and require all teachers to be vaccinated, but if it doesn't, will LB's School Board -- which has the final policy-making authority -- vote to require all LB teachers to be vaccinated?

LBREPORT.com will have continuing updates on this developing story.
