Dec. 30, 1:58 a.m.: Car Crashes Into ELB Norse Way Area Businesses

(December 30, 2004) -- A serious overnight traffic accident sent an SUV crashing into two adjacent businesses on Carson St. at Norse Way (east of Lakewood Blvd.) on Thursday Dec. 30.
    Source: LBFD Capt. Jim Arvizu

LBFD Public Information Officer Capt. Jim Arvizu says LBFD Engine 19, Rescue 19, Truck 17 and Battalion Commander 2 responded to the 1:58 a.m. call after a 1999 Ford Explorer collided with a Chevy mini van (which was turning onto eastbound Carson St. from Norse Way).

The Ford Explorer ended up on the north side of Carson St...and firefighters found the SUV wrapped around a building column separating two businesses.

LBFD extricated the Explorer's driver, a 19 year-old woman, and transported her to a nearby hospital...where she was reported in very critical condition earlier today.
