Recycle Your Xmas Tree For Free By Doing This

(Dec. 26, 2018) -- The City of Long Beach has two ways residents can recycle their Christmas trees for free: drop them off between Dec. 26 and Jan. 11 at any of 12 locations listed below OR (if you have city refuse/recycling service) there's one citywide "pick-up day" on Jan. 12 (instructions below.).

The 12 drop off sites (operated by the Recycling Division of the City's Environmental Services Bureau, part of Public Works) are available weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sat-Sun 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at these locations:

  • El Dorado Park - 2760 N. Studebaker Rd.,, south parking lot, behind administration building

  • CSULB Recycling Center - 5800 Atherton St., east of Bellflower Blvd.

  • North Police Substation - 4891 N. Atlantic Ave., at Del Amo Blvd. - enter on 46th St.

  • Fire Station #14 - 5200 Eliot St. at Colorado Ave.

  • City Operations Center Environmental Services Bureau- 2929 E. Willow St.

  • Bixby Park - 1st St. at Cherry Ave.

  • Cesar E. Chavez Park - Golden Shore St. at 4th St.

  • Houghton Park - Myrtle Ave. at Harding St.

  • Hudson Park - Hill St. at Webster Ave.

  • Stearns Park - Corner of 23rd St. and Roycroft Ave.

  • Veterans Park - 28th St. at Pine Ave.

  • Wardlow Park - Monlaco Rd. at Rutgers Ave.

And there's a citywide "pick-up day" for residents with city refuse and recycling service on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 with these caveats [city flier text] "Put tree out by 7:00 am. Put tree where your recycling is normally collected. All decorations and stands MUST be removed. Trees over 12' tall should be cut in half. Flocked trees will be accepted."
