(December 9, 2019) -- In two downtown LB area shootings that DO appear to be related, two women (adults) -- who weren't struck by the gunfire - say a man (known to at least one of them) opened fire on them at midmorning today (Dec. 9) in the area of Magnolia/8th St. and LBPD says both women were also the victims of an earlier no-person-hit shooting in an alley in the area of 3rd St./Daisy ave. (just west of Magnolia.) .

LBPD Public Information Officer Jennifer De Prez tells LBREPORT.com that at about 10:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of Magnolia Ave./8th St. and spoke with two women who said they were walking in the area when a man (adult) approached them, fired shots toward them, and fled.

"The suspect is known to one of the two women and is outstanding," PIO De Prez says.

While officers were investigating that shooting, they learned of a possible second shooting location in the 300 block of Daisy Ave. (about half a mile south.) Additional officers responded to that location and found bullet casings in an alley in the area of the 300 block of Daisy Ave. PIO De Prez says the Daisy Ave. shooting occurred first, but exactly when it occurred isn't yet clear and is under investigation.

The women "reported being involved in both shooting incidents," says PIO DePrez.

PIO DePrez says LBPD gang detail detectives responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing [BUT LBREPORT.com caveat: it's standard procedure for gang detectives to respond to non-fatal shootings and doesn't necessarily demonstrate gang involvement.

LBBPD PIO DePrez says no person(s) appear to have been struck and a motive for the shootings is currently unknown.
