(December 2, 2020) -- In the FIFTH Wrigley and Wrigley-adjacent Central LB shootings in less than a week, at least one of two suspects fired shots at a man seated in his vehicle, who initially fled but then pursued his attackers into a traffic collision at Wardlow/Magnolia where at least one of the suspects allegedly shot him to death.

In a release, LBPD states that at about 7:25 a.m. on Dec. 1, officers were sent to the 3500 block of Eucalyptus Avenue regarding a reported shooting, with some callers also reported a shooting at Wardlow/Magnolia.

[LBPD release text] Officers arrived on scene at both locations and discovered two separate shooting scenes. In the intersection of Wardlow Road and Magnolia Avenue, an officer located a victim who was non-responsive in this vehicle. The officer performed life-saving measures until the Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper torso, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was inside his parked vehicle preparing to pull from the curb on Eucalyptus Avenue when the suspect pulled next to him and stopped. At least two suspects exited the suspect vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle. The victim accelerated from the curb, and at least one suspect immediately began firing gunshots at the victim before running back to the suspect vehicle and fleeing.

The victim turned his vehicle around and pursued the suspect’s southbound on Eucalyptus Avenue, terminating in a traffic collision between the suspects' and victim’s vehicles. At which time, a second confrontation occurred at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Wardlow Road where witnesses observed at least one suspect shooting at the victim's vehicle before fleeing southbound Magnolia Avenue.

The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Long Beach resident Jaime Perez.

The suspects are described as male adults wearing masks and dark clothing. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-color SUV...
