(December 18, 2020) --

(Dec. 18, 2020) -- Two more LBUSD school sites -- (Buffum Elementary @ 2350 Ximeno and Plymouth Elemetary @ 495 E. Plymouth] offering K-5 "Head Start" programs have notified parents/guardians that their child may have been exposed to COVID-19.

And the Buffum notification goes further.

[Buffum notification] "E]ffective Wednesday, December 16, 2020, Buffum will be closed for 14 days. This closure coupled with the winter break, will lead to school to resume in person on Monday, January 4, 2021. Today [Dec 16] we became aware of two positive cases of COVID-19 at Buffum, in addition to other recent cases. Because student and staff health is our greatest concern, we consulted the Long Beach Health Department and determined that a temporary site closure is the recommended next step. We are informing you of this circumstance in an abundance of caution and to ask you to closely monitor your child’s health should they experience symptoms of illness. Because we value the privacy of individuals, we cannot share more details about the circumstances of this situation. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and diligence about monitoring your health."

As of dawn Dec. 18, LBUSD's COVID-19 Dashboard indicatges that since Sept 1 (and the start of limited K-5 programs), LBUSD reports 151 total confirmed COVID-19 cases among 107 employees, 32 students and 12 vensors/visitors.
