(Feb 21, 2019) -- A woman became a LB crime statistic on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 20) when a strong-arm robber grabbed her backpack, she gave chase, fell and was injured as the thief fled the scene. The strong-arm suspect got away in a vehicle driven by another individual who had two others in the vehicle with him.
All of this happened at midafternoon nearly across the street (about a block south) from LBPD's North Division police station. LBPD Public Information officer Jennifer De Prez tells LBREPORT.com (preliminary information) that on Feb. 20 at about 1:50 p.m., officers were sent to the 4500 block of Atlantic Ave. where a man (adult) grabbed a woman's backpack and fled. LBPD says the victim chased the suspect but she fell to the ground and was injured. The victim was treated at the scene by LBFD and released. LBPD says the strong-arm robbery suspect was described as an adult male Black who fled in a dark-colored sedan (unclear who drove the getaway car.) LBPD says its investigation is ongoing.
