LB's 3rd Murder By Shooting of 2020 Is Drive-By In NW NLB, Also Wounds A Man; It's 7th Time In 9 Months Gunfire Has Impacted Coolidge Triangle Neighborhood

(Feb. 18, 2020, 3:54 p.m.) -- It was a drive-by shooting, LB's third murder by shooting of 2020 and the seventh time in nine months that gunfire has impacted NW NLB's Coolidge Triangle (south of Artesia Blvd., west of 710 freeway, 9th Council district.)

In a release, LBPD says that at about 2:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18), a drive-by shooting left one man injured and another man mortally wounded as they sat in a vehicle parked in the 6200 block of White Ave. (adjacent to 710 freeway.) The less seriously msn took the other victim to a hospital where the latter, identified as Latrell Coleman, 23, of LB,succumbed to his injuries.

LBPD says the exact motive for the shooting remains under investigation with detectivws actively working to gather additional information. It urges anyone with infnromation to contact LBPD Homicide Detail Detectives Michael Hubbard or Leticia Gamboat at (562) 570-7244.

  • August 3:350 Neeces St: Woman says she was hit near Coolidge Park.
  • June 20: 300 block E. Forhan: Someone shoots at a man seated in a vehicle just west of Coolidge Park (misses him, hits vehicle.).

    UPDATE: Clarifier: There have been two other murders (not shootings) thus far in 2020: a bizarre hospital room murder and a deceased man fond in an alley in NLB (68thj/Paramount).
