(Feb. 5, 2020, 1:35 p.m.) -- In the second 1st Council district shooting within two days (and less than a block away from a double-victim shooting two nights earlier), a 16 year old boy was shot/wounded at early evening Tuesday (Feb. 4) om the Drake Park/historic Willmore City neighborhood.

LBPD Public Information Officer Jennifer De Prez says officers responded to reports of shots heard in the 900 block of Maine Ave. at about 7 p.m. and found the boy wounded (with casings found on the street.) LBFD transported him to a hospital with non-life-threatehning wounds in stable condition. The victim said an unknown suspect shot at him and the suspect fled prior to officer arrival and remains outstanding, motive currently unknown.

On Feb. 2, a 20 year old man and a 16-year old girl were shot/wounded (and said the suspects, a group of males tried to rob them) in the 1 a.m. hour in the 900 block of Park Circle in the Drake Park/Willmore City neighborhood.

Last night's (Feb. 4) shooting was the eighth (including a suspected gang-related homicide) in LB's 1st Council district since Mary Zendejas was elected to the City Council in early November 2019 with the endorsements and financial support of the LB Police Officers union, Mayor Robert Garcia and the immediate past 1st dist. Councilwoman (now state Senator) Lena Gonzalez.
