(Feb. 16, 2020, 7:50 p.m.) -- Late afternoon gunfire (Sunday Feb. 16) brought a large LBPD response to the 800 block of Termino Ave. (east of Redondo Ave., a bit west and north of Wilson High, 3rd Council district/Suzie Price) where officers found evidence of a shooting (casings) but no immediate signs of persons hit.

In initial information LBPD Public Information Officer Jennifer De Prez says officers responded at about 5:40 p.m. to multiple reports of shots fired and confirmed the gunfire by finding evidence of the shooting (casings.)

There's no immediate suspect description and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

To LBREPORT.com's knowledge (unofficial), it's the first shooting in such circumstances in LB's 3rd Council district since at least Jan. 1, 2014 (and for a few years before.) In late October 2009, a gang-related shooting in the 700 block of Ximeno Ave. took the life of Wilson High honor student Melody Ross who was among innocent bystanders waiting to attend a dance following the school's homecoming football game.

Earlier today (Feb. 16) in the 2 a.m. hour, a shooting in LB's "East Village" (700 block of E. 6th St., 1st Council district) left a man dead in an alleyway. LBPD is investigating the homicide as gang related.
