(February 3, 2020, 2:50 p;.m.) -- The Long Beach Buisness Journal has been acquired by Pacific6, Inc., which acquired LBPost.com through a subsidiary in mid-June 2018 from ETA Advertising (a firm then-owned/operated by-now 2nd dist. Council candidate Cindy Allen.) A sales price for the transaction wasn't disclosed.

Pacific6, whose six founding members include John Molina, owns two downtown Ocean Blvd. properties: The Breakers (Ocean Blvd. a half block east of Pine Ave.) and the Ocean Center Building (SW corner of Ocean Blvd. Pine Ave.) On October 1, 2019, the City Council approved giving a Pacific6 entity a city management-recommended, Mayor Garcia-supported $13 million 9 year Ecoonomic Development Subsidy to facilitate the firm's plan to turn the former (vacated) Breakers hotel building into a contemporary boutique luxury hotel. Two weeks later on October 15, 2019, the Council voted to authorize a city management-recommended, Mayor Garcia-supported transaction enabling MWN LLC, an entity in which a City media release subsequently identified Paciifc6 as a partner, to open/operate a smaller version of LB's former Community Hospital on city-owned seismically challenged land for $1 year rent. The transaction included commiting LB taxpayers to spend up to $1-$2 million annually for up to 15 years to pay half the cost of seismic upgrades (which LB city management said it plans to fund using LB's Measure A sales tax.) In a Feb. 3, 2020 piece, Business Journal founder (now former publisher) George Economides acknowledged that he'd suffered a stroke on March 30 that left him "in no shape to run a demanding business" which since had been handled by his daughter April. Mr. Economides said he was "proudest [of his] two-year involvement in having the city’s utility users tax cut in half, collectively saving every resident and business tens of millions of dollars over the past 19 years, and forcing city officials to re-visit their spending priorities

Councilwoman Stacy Mungo (in February 2018 when she faced challengers Rich Dines and Corliss Lee) and $500 to Jared Milrad's unsuccessful 2018 campaign to unseat 7th dist.
