See Who Gave Maximum Sums To Mayor Garcia's 2026 Lt. Governor Committee (That He's Used Thus Far As A Slush Fund To Support Other Campaigns)

(Jan. 31, 2020, 8:40 p.m.) -- The individuals and entities below gave the maximum allowable sums ($7,800 each) in 2019 to the "Robert Garcia for Lt. Governor 2026" political campaign committee. Most of the Committee's Dec. 31, 2019 cash balance of $186,415 came from Garcia having transferred roughly $160,000+ unused from his 2018 Mayoral campaign.
By filing paperwork for Lt. Governor in 2026, Garcia simultaneously created an account he controls for that sixi figure sum and also signaled that he plans to seek a third term as Mayor in 2022. In 2022, Garcia would benefit from Charter Amendment BBB that he proposed in mid-2018 and LB voters approved (after a six figure campaign run by a separate Garcia operated political committee) that erased LB's former write-in requirement for Mayors/Councilmembers seeking third terms. .

Thus far, Garcia has used the Committee mainly as a funding source he controls to support campaigns by current or possible future allies (listed below.) The sums include $10,000 that Garcia gave (alongside $10,000 sums from the LB Police Officers Ass'n PAC and state Senator Lena Gonzalez's leftover 2019 committee) to the LB Firefighters Ass'n PAC for an "independent campaign" to support electing Mary Zendejas to the 1st Council distrcit seat (November 2019 special election.) The Garcia/LBPOA/Gonzalez $10,000 contributions for the Firefighters Ass'n's "independent" campaign bypassed lower limits on contributions to candidate-run Council campaign committees.
