(Jan. 22, 2020, 3:15 p.m.) -- At some point overnight (Jan. 16-17), a group of vandals/thieves smashed the windows of at least 20 parked cars along the 4000 block of Ransom St. (4th Council district, between PCH-Anaheim, east of Redondo), allegedly taking cash from more than one vehicle and a taking a wallet from at least one vehicle.

LBPD Public Information Officer Shaunna Dandoy says preliminary information indicates a group of male suspects broke into the vehicles and left the area on foot. Reported losses include cash taken from several vehicles and wallet taken from one. LBPD says at this point (midday Jan. 22), 20 vehicles have been reported vandalized.

However NBC4 (which reported the story on Jan. 18 including home surveillance video of some of the alleged vandalism taking place) says the figure may be as high as 40 vehicles.
