LBPD COVID Outbreak Impacts 13 Uniformed Employees, One Is Hospitalized

(January 8, 2021, 11:50 a.m.) -- In its daily update (Jan, 7), the City of Long Beach said 13 "public facing LBPD employees" have tested postitive for COVID-19. "They were most recently at work between Dec. 16, 2020, and Jan. 6, 2021, and were located in multiple divisions across the city."

LBREPORT.com checked further and learned that they are all uniformed personnel:a combination of Airport uniformed personnel, SSO ("Special Services Officers") personnel [assists sworn officers in various tasks] and LBPD sworn officers.

'Three were Long Beach residents. Twelve are recovering at home; one is being treated in the hospital,' the City Jan. 7 update said

In addition, the City said two public-facing Parks, Recreation and Marine Community Recreation Services Bureau employees have tested positive for COVID-19, last at work between Dec. 30 and January 5.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, LBPD revealed in mid-November that 12 sworn officers in multiple divisions including North, South and West plus one civilian employee tested positive for COVID-19 within the preceding two weeks.. (LBREPORT.com coverage here.
