(July 10, 2020, 4:45 p.m.) -- Did multiple Long Beach gang members convoy or coordinate travel from North Long Beach to a location in the 2700 block of E. 7th St., the site of a pre-Halloween party, to create a mass casualty event that left three people dead and nine others wounded...none of whom appear to have gang affiliations?

An LBPD release at this link seeks the public's help in identifying the vehicles involved and includes this chilling statement:

"Through their investigation, [detectives] have identified three possible suspect vehicles. Detectives believe the suspects responsible for this shooting traveled from North Long Beach before making their way to the shooting location."

And then this: "Based on suspect statements heard at the scene and through additional investigation, they believe there is gang involvement amongst the suspects.".(Note it says among "the suspects" not the victims)

Asked during Q & A, about any gang involvement by the victims, Chief Luna stated: "In regards to the gang related aspect of this investigation as we know now, we believe the suspects may be gang members, but in regards to the victims, there was no gang affiliating with any of the victims that were shot, any of the twelve victims that were shot." .
