(July 16, 2020, 7:35 a.m.) -- As a parent, grandparent, other relative or concerned taxpayer, should LBUSD reopen for classroom instruction or offer (at least until Oct. 5) online instruction only? The administration's of CA's three largest school districts -- Los Angeles, San Diego and Long Beach -- have announced their districts will begin the new school year with online instruction only (LBUSD until at least Oct. 5).

On June 25, Catholic schools (in L.A. County, Santa Barbara and Ventura) announced a plan to reopen for on-campus instruction -- with social distancing requirements (statement here.

As reported on July 14, incoming LBUSD Superintendent announced LB would open with online instruction only (following a similar announcement by LA and SD districts.) (LBREPORT.com coverage here.)

In adjacent Orange County, some school districts are taking differing positions (coverage by Voice of OC at this link.. A panel of experts has distanced itself from the OC Board of Education's recommendation that OC districts reopen schools without face masks and other requirements. (Voice of OC coverage here

In Long Beach, LBUSD's elected School Board (which ultimately sets policy) hasn't weighed in on the issue. It has a meeting scheduled on July 20 but no agenda yet online as of dawn July 16.
