(July 31, 2021, 11:45 a.m.) -- Just hours after a July 30 shooting inside Scherer Park (CD 8/Austin), LBPD responded to two more shootings in the overnight hours July 31: In the midnight hour, a man in an out of city hospital's ER said he was shot in the area of Cherry Ave/Artesia Blvd. (CD 9/Richardson) and in the 2 a.m. hour officers found a man with a gunshot wound in a residence the 3100 block Golden (CD 7/Uranga)

  • On July 31 at about 12:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to an out of city hospital regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report. "When officers arrived, they contacted a male adult in the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries...During their investigation they learned the incident occurred in the area of Cherry Avenue and Artesia Boulevard. They responded to that location and were unable to locate a crime scene." PIO Herrera says the motive for the shooting is unknown and there's no suspect information with LBPD's investigation ongoing.

  • On July 31 at about 2:29 a.m., officers were sent to the 3100 block of Golden Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. "When officers arrived, they located a male adult inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the upper torso Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the subject to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The motive for the shooting is unknown and there is no suspect information."

    As reported earlier this morning by LBREPORT.com, shots were fired inside Scherer Park (CD 8/Austin) at dusk yesterday (July 30) near its dog park (near Long Beach Blvd.) and a brief stroll from LBPD's North Division police station (also located in the park.) A male juvenile was hit and suffered a non-life-threatening wound.
