(July 4, 2021, 11:15 a.m.) -- Long Beach had two shootings within the first two hours of July 4, 2021: 200 block of E. 7th Street (CD 1/Zendejas) and S. 1st Place/E. Ocean Blvd. (CD 2/Allen).

LBPD Public Information Officer Allison Gallagher says a man (adult) allegedly shot a 16 year male juvenile in the 200 block of E. 7th St. (CD 1/Zendejas). Officers believe the two had an altercation; the man allegedly shot the juvenile; the 16 year old fled the scene before officers arrived and a short while later showed up at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

LBPD has arrested and booked Saeed Langdon, 20, of Carson, on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm on a person, held on $1,000,000 bail.

About an hour later at about 2:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to the beach area near S. 1st Place and E. Ocean Boulevard (CD 2/Allen) just east of the Villa Riviera) regarding a shooting and found a 24 year old man with a gunshot wound. LBFD transported him to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

PIO Gallagher says that through their preliminary investigation, officers determined that "a group of subjects were on the beach when an unknown suspect approached the group. After a brief verbal exchange between the suspect and the group, the suspect shot the victim and the suspect then fled the area on foot."

Officers located casings and other evidence; the motive for the shooting is unknown; additional suspect information isn't available; LBPD's gang detectives responded and the investigation is ongoing.
