(July 14, 2021) -- While the City Council met last night, LB had a shooting in the 1900 block of W. 23rd St. (CD 7/Uranga, west of Santa Fe Ave., a block north of Admiral Kidd Park between PCH and Willow St.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Allison Gallagher says (preliminary information) that offices responded at about 8:27 p.m. and located the victim, who said he was walking in the area when a man (adult) approached him and attempted to talk to him. The victim ignored the suspect, kept walking, and the suspect shot at him and fled.

Officers located evidence, including casings. The motive is currently unknown. Gang detectives responded (common for non-fatal LB shootings) and the investigation is ongoing.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, on July 9 a man says he was inside his WLB residence (2900 block Canal Ave., CD 7) when he observed that his residence had been struck by gunfire. Officers likewise located ballistic evidence indicating a shooting had occurred.
