(July 9, 2021, 8:55 a.m.) -- Long Beach Health Officer Dr. Anissa Davis, who has the authority to impose greater restrictions than Sacramento has allowed, says LB's increasing COVID-19 case rate (updated daily atop LBREPORT.com's front page) which has reached 4.4 as of July 8 (up from the 1's in roughly early May and double some June levels) and increased positive test rate aren't surprising with the mid-June reopenings.

Dr. Davis said she will be watching developing data, especially with now circulating virus variants, but isn't recommending any changes based on what she sees now.
