(June 29, 2020. 9:15 p.m.) -- A 16-year old boy was shot/wounded at midafternoon today (Mon. June 29) in the 5800 block of Atlantic Ave. (a few steps from LB's Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Jennifer De Prez says officers responded on June 29 at about 2:15 p.m., found the boy with gunshot wound to his lower torso. He was transorted to a hospitalwhere his wound was described as "non-life-threatening."

Gang detectives responded (now routine in non-fatal shootings) and are invetigating; at this point there's no suspect description or motive for the shooting.

A little over twelve hours earlier, a man was shot -- and killed -- in the 5800 block block of Orange Ave. (about three quarters of a mile due east of the Atlantic Ave. crime scene. Both crime scenes are in the 9th Council district, just north of South St. which is the border between the 8th and 9th Council districts.

They're the first shootings in NLB since a series shootings (incllding a homicide) in Central/West Long Beach (LBREPORT.com coverage here, here, >here, here. and here.
