In a live phoner with KNX/1070 Newsradio anchor Brian Ping in the 7 p.m. hour (June 2), Councilwoman Mungo said: "The IRS shows that we have 43,000 bnusiness in our city. So far we have heard we were very lucky to prevent the damage and vandalism and looting to about 170 businesses.".

Councilwoman Mungo said: "We're really sharing the lessons learned. We were very fortunate to limit the vcandalism and looting to just a few hour period. Not all cities have been that fortunate." She added that "we're lucky to be able to share some lessons learned and some things we could have done better" [which she didn't describe.]

Councilwoman Mungo didn't explain exactly how the City prevented or limited the damages. [From reports received by LBREPORT.com, it appears that the looting outside of downtown was mainly scattered and appeared to target certain types of businesses (including shoe stores, drug stores, some markets/liquor stores and telephone stores) which may have had the effect of limiting damages to some extent.]
