(June 3, 2021, 2:25 a.m., updated 11:20 a.m.) -- A woman was shot/wounded nearing midnight last night (June 2) in the 1000 block of Dawson Ave. (10th St. east of Cherry Ave,, CD 4/Supernaw near border with CD 2/Allen.)

LBPD Watch Commander Curtis Yee tells LBREPORT.com that at about 11:33 p.m. June 2 LBPD responded to assist LBFD with a shooting victim (an adult woman) in the 1000 block of Dawson Ave. LBFD transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition. We have no immediate information on how the shooting occurred (walk-up or drive-by) or whether it's being investigated as possibly gang related.

In an updated statement at midmorning, LBPD PIO Allison Gallagher indicated "a 19-year-old female sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported by Long Beach Fire to a local hospital in critical condition.
