(June 30, 2021, 10:25 a.m.) -- Long Beach's 8th Council district (Al Austin) had overnight gunfire in the uptown Bixby Knolls area of LB Blvd./San Antonio Drive.

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says officers responded at about 1:51 a.m. to a shots call. The found evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred.

No persons reported injured; no suspect information available; motive currently unknown; investigation ongoing.

A week ago (June 30) the working class eastern portion of part of CD 8 had a double-shooting (5500 block Ackerfield Ave) which included a homicide.

Since Jan. 1, CD 8 has now had 25 shootings (fatal + wounding + casings found), the same level as CD 9 (Richardson). Central LB's CD 1 + CD 6 combined have had 61 such shootings to date.
