Suspects Fire Shots Into Residence About A Block NW From Michelle Obama Library; One Suspect In Custody, Another At Large

(March 3, 2019, 7:28 p.m.) -- Two suspects fired shots into a residence about a block northwest of the Michelle Obama Neighorhood Library on Saturday night (March 2). LBPD swiftly responded, successfully applied a containment perimeter and apprehended one of two suspects and is investigating what took place as possibly gang related).

LBPD Public Information Officer Benjamin Hearst tells LBREPORT.com that at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday March 2, officers were sent to a shots call in the 5900 block of Linden Ave and learned that two suspects had fired shots into a residence before fleeing on foot. Officers set up a containment perimeter and found and arrested one suspect, Veasna Kim, 20, of Long Beach, booked on suspicion of firing into an inhabited dwelling, being a felon in possessio of firearm and altering the firearm's serial number. A second suspect remains outstanding; the motive for shooting is unknown but is being investigated as possibly gang related.

Less than five hours later, LBPD responded to a shots call in ELB in the 3700 block of E. Stearns St. Separate coverage coming on LBREPORT.com.
