(March 3, 2019) -- The FBI says that late Sunday morning (March 3) it arrested Stephen Beal in Long Beach without incident and at late afternoon March 3 was serving a federal search warrant at his home [in ELB's El Dorado Park South neighborhood.] FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller indicates FBI's OC office and the U.S. Attorney's office will have additional details on this tomorrow (March 4.)

On May 15, 2018, Mr. Beal's former girlfriend, Ildiko Krajnyak, was killed by a packaged explosive at her Aliso Viejo business. Mr. Beal was arrested in mid-May 2018 and the U.S. Attorney's office filed charges against him -- but not for the deadly explosion -- then dropped those charges which were for allegedly possessing an unregistered explosive device.

On May 15-16, 2018, OC Sheriffs converged on Mr. Beal's residence; LBREPORT.com saw US EPA's "Emergency Response Team" on scene on May 16.

On May 17, 2018, the FBI, OCSD, ATF and the US Attorney's office stated that "during the course of the investigation into the May 15 explosion in Aliso Viejo, investigtors found a destructive device during the service of a search warrrant at a Long Beach residence. The resident, Stephen Beal, 59, of Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an unregistered destructive device. Mr. Beal is not being charged in connection with the explosion..."

On May 26, 2018, federal prosecutors filed a court document indicating questions had arisen about whether the device met the federal law's definition of a "destructive device" and dropped those charges filed against Mr. Beal.

Developing. Further as confirmed.
