(Mar. 29, 2019, 3:55 p.m.) -- CA Secretary of State data show that on March 27, the day after state Senate candidate Lena Gonzalez (a Long Beach Councilwoman) was forced into a runoff with roughly 30% of district ballots cast despite over $1.1 million in supportive independent campaign spending by an oil/gas industry funded PAC, the PAC's "Coalition to Restore California's Middle Class, Including Energy Companies Who Produce Gas, Oil, Jobs and Pay Taxes" spent $15,259 in its independent campaign to support Gonzalez for additional "consulting and expenses" plus $2,000 (estimated) for "digital media."
A day earlier on election day (Mar. 26), the Gonzalez campaign received contributions from the L.A. County Firefighters Local 1014 ($3,500) and Farmers Group, Inc. ($2,000)...and on the day before the election the Gonzalez campaign received a $1,000 contribution from the "Alan Lowenthal for Congress" committee and along with the entities reported below:
