(March 9, 2020, 5:55 p.m.) --In a late afternon release today (March 9), the City of LB says preliminary test results indicate that two men and one woman have tested positive for COVID-19 virus. Such cases are considered presumptive until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms the results.

"Two had traveled to an international area of community transmission and one traveled domestically to an area of community transmission. One patient is hospitalized in stable condition and two are isolated at home," the release says.

Given the presumptive positive test results, The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services Communicable Disease Control Program is conducting an extensive contact investigation and following up with individuals who may have been exposed.suspected cases of COVID-19 to the Health Department immediately.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, on Monday afternoon (March 9), the L.A. County Dept, of Public Health indicated that one of two new L.A. County COVID-19 cases [County release text] "has an unidentified source of exposure, therefore Public Health has determined this is the first possible case of community transmission in L.A.
