(March 24, 2020, 11:20 a.m.) -- In a video announcement visible on Facebook, CSULB President Jane Close states that she has "made the very difficult decision to pospone spring commencement and related cultural celebrations until after the pandemic situation subsides."

She said is "fully aware of the deep disappointment" her decision will cause but says she's "also fully certain that it is the appropriate cause of action given the rapidly evolving nature of the virus and directives we are receiving from medical experts and government and public health agencies."

Dr. Close Conoley "we will be exploring alternatives with many stakeholders to our traditional spring commencement in the coming weeks."

The March 23 announcement comes one day before CSULB's co-director of Student Health Serbices announced that two CSULB students tested positive for COVID-19 (LBREPORT.com coverage here.)
