(March 28, 2020) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that as of midafternoon Friday Mar. 27, the City of LB had tested roughly ten homeless persons and says that among them it found no positive COVID-19 cases.

Responding to a Mar. 27 inquiry from LBREPORT.com, Eric Bradley in Media Relations at the city management operated Joint Information Center stated in an email:

[March 27, 2 p.m. hour response] As of today [March 27], out of the approximately 10 persons experiencing homelessness who have been tested by the City, there are currently no positive cases. Those who were tested were provided hotel vouchers to use during their recommended self-quarantine and were provided meals for that time. The Multi Service Center is assisting.

If there are confirmed positive cases among those who are homeless, monitoring and contact investigation for them will be handled like any other resident.

The City is working on a long-term plan to address best practices in providing resources for those who are homeless and test positive for COVID-19. Possibilities include opening a separate housing facility specifically for those testing positive, or for those showing symptoms and should not be at standard City shelters. We don't have a time estimate for that. It is, however, a high priority.
