(March 12, 2020, 11:05 p.m.) -- A CSULB student became the victim of a armed robbery or an attempted armed robbery [not entirely clear from CSULB text below] in the CSULB Pyramid parking structure in the 4 p.m. hour Thursday March 12.

>In a mass emailing to CSULB students and employees, a "timely warning bulletin" from CSULB Police Chief Fernando Solorzano stated in pertinent part:

TYPE OF CRIME: Robbery
DATE / TIME / LOCATION OF CRIME: 03/12/2020, 4:20 PM, Pyramid Parking Structure 3rd Floor...

Synopsis of Crime: At approximately 4:20 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2020, a CSULB student was exiting his vehicle on the 3rd floor of the Pyramid Parking Structure and was approached by two black males, one of which was brandishing a handgun held at his side who demanded the victim give them his property and then fled the area.

Suspect Description: The armed suspect (#1) is described as a black, adult male, thin build, wearing a white t-shirt and a black vest with possible tattoos on his arms. Suspect #2 is described as a black, adult male, larger in size than suspect #1, wearing a hoodie (unknown color). Both suspects appeared to be in their mid-twenties.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black sedan, unknown make or model. No license plate information is available at this time.

In response to this incident, the University Police Department is providing the following prevention and awareness tips to all members of our campus community:

  • 1. Stay alert and aways be aware of your surroundings. Use the "buddy system" or walk with others as often as possible.
  • 2. Report all crimes, suspicious persons, or activities immediately.
