(March 24, 2021, 10:45 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that yesterday (March 23) someone pulled out a gun and fired shots at Alan Songer, the husband of LB civic volunteer/neighborhood advocate Kerrie Aley, as Mr. Songer drove home from Los Angeles to Long Beach.
The gunfire occurred on the southbound 710 freeway at about Florence Ave. Mr. Songer said. A stranger (driving in a roughly ten year old Honda sedan) pulled up alongside him, fired two shots at him. laughed and drove off. The rounds missed hitting Mr. Songer; apparently going over the top of over his vehicle. Mr. Songer says it wasn't "road rage" or any negative encounter of which he's aware. He estimates the shooter was a man about 19-24 years old. The laughing gunman is now "in the wind" ready to repeat the action, or worse, to others. The shooting didn't occur in Long Beach, but on a major freeway gateway between LA County's largest and second largest cities. Mr. Songer has deep Long Beach roots. He said he as well as his father and his grandfather were born in Long Beach (one remembered "Willmore City.") Ms. Aley is known for her detailed, well-researched testimony and filings in multiple Long Beach neighborhood and taxpayer-impacting proceedings. "I may be taking the 110 instead of the 710 from now on," said Mr. Songer with whimsical gallows humor. Ms. Aley was more blunt, commenting to LBREPORT.com that per LB Police Chief Luna, "am I to supposed [to believe] that this is some sort of side effect from Covid-19?" LBEPORT.com has learned that the couple may be leaving Long Beach for a chunk of southern California property near wild conservancy land "The garbage and tents are expanding downtown," Ms. Aley said, opining that southern CA & LB have become filth-filled, "but at least [Long Beach] will have an $100 million [Belmont Shore] pool." . |
