(March 17, 2021) -- Later today (March 17) shortly before 8 p.m.,the International Space Station's orbit will take it a bit south of Long Beach, orbiting from SW to NE. I will be a good viewing opportunity **IF** forecast clouds don't interfere. (As of early aftenoon Mar. 17, the Nat'l Weather Service forecasts a "partly cloudy" sky.)
The spacecraft will become visible in the SW sky at aboaut 7:54 p.m. rising to roughly 66 degrees high in the SE sky at 7:57 p.m., before descending in the NE sky at 8:00 p.m. Since November 2020, the tiny light we may see crossing our sky has been carrying four Space X Crew-1 members: Mission Commander/NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins; NASA astronaut/Pilot Victor Glover plus NASA Astronaut Shannon Walker and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi.
