(March 27, 2021, 1:10 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that individuals who received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose (Pfizer) at the Long Beach Convention Center on March 26 and March 27 were not given a writen date on their CDC vaccination card for their second dose (optimally 21 days after their first dose.)

Instead, they were given a verbal promise from on site City vaccinators that they would receive an email advisng them of when they would receive their second dose. One recipient said he was told it would be 21 days after his frst shot (the optimal time if observed) and he could "write it in his calendar."

None said the City vacccinators on site couldn't or wouldn't write the date on their CDC vaccccination card, leaving unclear why the City's vaccinators didn't do so. .

At the same time, the City and County are significantly expanding the number of persons elgible for their first doses at the same time they expect to receive major vaccine increases in the coming weeks. The major increases (plus J & J's "one shot and done") may avoid the consequences of Long Beach's botched (but praised by Gov. Newsom) January/February vaccine roll-out in which the City failed to reserve sufficient second doses to those to whom it gave first doses. The result at a time of scarce vaccine availability ended up reducing the availability of vaccines to those who needed their first doeses bt couldn't get it, and threatened to extend the time period for those awaiting their second doses.

LBREPORT.com is unaware of delays for second doses, but is aware of mujltiple LB residents who turned to LA County sites and other locations for their first doess where they were efficiently given written noticeo their CDC cardd of the date and time for their second doses.

To LBREPORT.com's knowledge Long Beach has continued to publicly list certain vaccination figures that include Long Beach residents who received their first shots elsewhere, not from the City of Long Beach. .
